We travelled to sunny Sligo today for our annual match with our friends from the Sligo Leitrim District Soccer League L. Ryan Campbell took charge of the side today assisted by Richard Clarke, and they took a new look side featuring several exciting youngsters along with some wise old head.
Sligo Leitrim DSL also had some excellent youngsters on the pitch, and they dominated large parts of the first half. All square at half-time the 2nd half started with two quick goals. Sligo Leitrim DSL opened the scoring in the 48th minute when Connor Griffin headed home a great cross from the right wing. We struck back immediately with Dwayne McManus setting up Eamon McGrath, who fired home from close range. As the game worn on, we started to get the upper hand, and in the final minute of the game, we got the winning goal. Barry Goodwin whipped in a dangerous free kick which fellow teenage Tiarnan Campbell turned home.
This is the third year of our annual matches between the associations and I think everyone would agree it was it was the best match so far from a speactors point of view, we two even evenly matched sides with some great players on display.
